WHAT IS FOREST SCHOOL?

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop in positive ways through hands on experiences, in a natural environment with trees.

As Forest School is child-led and learner centred to promote holistic development, our sessions are tailored to the needs to the group. For the full impact of Forest School a programme should be a long-term process delivered on a regular basis. We do also offer A Day in the Woods for school trips and taster sessions.

TAILORED PACKAGES

School Trips & Days Out

If you have forest school in your school grounds why not come to the woods and practise your skills in a real woodland.

For school trips why not come and experience a day out in the wood at the Forest Centre.

We provide a variety of activities including den building, fire lighting, tool use, woodland arts and crafts, tree climbing and more.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning involves 1 or 2 hour sessions focusing on literacy, numeracy or any particular area in which you would like to develop children's skills. We can run these sessions in your school grounds or in the woods and tailor a programme to your needs. Full of half days available.

Sessions for Staff

A forest school taster for staff that are keen to know more. We would love the opportunity to get to know you better so we can work together to promote children's education, health and well-being through outdoor play.

ACTIVITIES

Forest School activities are endless, as the natural environment provides so many opportunities. But, activities can include:

Fire Lighting

At each session the children have the opportunity to learn different firefighting techniques. This is often finished with hot chocolate and marshmallow's.

Den & Shelter Building

Every child wants to create their own fortress, so why not create this from natural materials? We will support the children to create their own shelter.

Connection to nature

With our busy lifestyles it can be easy to stay indoors. This session provides the opportunity for your child to connect with nature across all seasons.

Tree Climbing

Who remembers climbing a tree? At this session with give children the opportunity to manage their own risk (with supervision) and explore the tree tops.

Arts & Crafts

We love to get creative using natural resources and basic tools. So we offer a range of woodland based arts & crafts.

Nature ID

Can you tell an oak leaf from an ash leaf? With our nature expertise and a little curiosity we will teach your child all about the woodland.
